2009 Little Glass Blowers Tundra Time Trial - Frazier Cycling Captures Six Medals

February 16, 2009

Fifty-one competitors represented Frazier Cycling at the seventh annual Glass Blowers Tundra Time Trial held on Saturday, February 14, 2009, near Hiram, Georgia.  Our club had 31 Juniors and 20 Seniors in the race.  This was our biggest turn-out for the event and our club had the largest number participants in the race, which had 312 finishers.  We took six medals.  Philip O'Donnell and Kat Tindol were division winners; David Goodman, Andrew Macrae, and Johnny Mayero were runners up and Nick Frazier placed third.

Men's 10-12-year-old National Champion, Philip O'Donnell won the Youth Division's 4.75-mile trial trial in record time, 12 minutes, 26 seconds.  Andrew Macrae was a close second place, with his 12:31.  Both racers shattered the previous record of 13 minutes, 31 seconds.

Kat Tindol won the overall Women's 9.5-mile time trial by nearly 41 seconds!

David Goodman and Nick Frazier placed second and third, respectively, in the 9.5-mile Juniors time trial.  Fifteen year-old David averaged 25.31 mph!  David and Nick were the fourth and fifth fastest racers among our 51 members.

Johnny Mayero had his best performance to date as a Category 3 racer.  He finished in second place in the 9.5-mile Men's Cat 3 division with an average speed of 26.496 mph, his all-time fastest FCP ride!  Frazier Cycling's Men's Cat 3 team had an outstanding day as all three club representatives placed in the top 5 of the division.  Along with Johnny's 2nd place finish, was Joe Rosentel, 4th, 26.204 mph, and Mike Tindol, 5th, 25.983 mph.

Coach Kelli and I were very proud of our club's performances - Juniors and category racers, alike!

Here is my immediate impression after the race:

"The race community has regarded Frazier Cycling as a Junior development only club; however, toward the end of the 2008 race season, I felt that we were making headway in Men's and Women's Category racing.  Frazier Cycling's mission is to bring success to all ages.  Today, Kat Tindol, Johnny Mayero, Joe Rosentel, and Mike Tindol are proving that Frazier Cycling is also a Senior development club, too."
