2009 Second Round FC Kids/FCP Time Trial

By Ralph Frazier

May 11, 2009

Our second round of the 2009 Individual Time Trial Series was held Wednesday evening, May 6, 2009.  Thirty-four members participated in the event.  Although the we had intermittent sprinkles that dampened the course, seventeen personal records and four Junior Age Group Records were set.

Twenty-four kids/juniors and ten adults competed against the clock on the 1.6-mile circuit at Shannon Way.

Newcomers to our time trial were Stephanie Cucaz and Cana Dailey.

Just like the opening round for this year, Joe Rosentel crossed the finish line with the evening's top average speed.  His 27.560 mph average ranks as our seventh all-time fastest.

David Goodman, 15, turned in the best Junior average speed and he set a new Boys' Age Group Record with his 26.182 mph.  Philip O'Donnell, 12, 25.657 mph, and Andrew Macrae, 13, 25.487 mph, posted the next fastest average speeds, setting personal records and Age Group Records.

Hunter Lydick, 17 set our fourth Age Group Record of the evening, 24.355 mph.

Others with new Personal Records:

Thanks to our timers: Jerry Hartley and Sarah Tomaka.

Thanks to our escorts: Jeff Aldridge, Bill Bashe, Mike Goodman, and Brian Rell.

Thanks to our recorder: Yvonne Lydick.

Thanks to our traffic marshals: Srin Gummadi.

AS ALWAYS, Coach Kelli and I encourage all of our Juniors to participate in every 3.2-mile ITT on the schedule.  Although the time trial is excellent practice for racing, more importantly, we use the results to measure each individual's fitness and progress.
