Ryan Hobbs

Coach Ryan Hobbs can best be described as a cycling scientist. He earned both Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Exercise Physiology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. During his graduate studies, Ryan’s primary research project examined the effects of antioxidant supplementation on high intensity cycling performance and oxidative stress. Ryan has raced in a spectrum of cycling events throughout his life. He competed as a junior mountain biker in both WV and Virginia, earning top-three honors in both states in 1998 and capturing a state championship in Virginia in 2000.

Ryan currently participates in both road cycling and short track, cross-country, marathon, and 12-hour mountain biking events. In 2008, Ryan was the 3rd place overall for the sport category of the WV Mountain Biking Association cross-country series, prompting his move to the pro-expert class for the next season. In 2009, he earned 1st place solo male in the WV 12-hour Creek to Peak mountain bike race. Ryan’s coaching highlights include the mentoring of a male pro/expert WV state champion and a women’s masters WV state champion. He is the training coach for the Frazier Cycling Junior Roswell Race Team and Roswell Youth Program.
